Abby Johnson is a popular pro-life figure and speaker. Sadly, her movie Unplanned has increased her branding and allowed her to infiltrate even more Christian circles. However, Abby is not a Christian and no friend to those who are truly trying to end abortion in our country. Since she is a clever chameleon and brand manager, exposing her can be challenging. Here I will share years of documentation that abolitionists and others have kept to show the real Abby.

Abby is an Enemy of Abolition
Abby, a resident of Texas, has opposed two separate Texas abolition bills (HB896 & HB948) which would have ENDED abortion in that state. Note, that while she stated she would not actively oppose HB896, her ministry put out a graphic soon after that did oppose it.
The graphic above that was posted on Abby’s ministry page but appears to have been removed. But it was also shared on her other group, the Pro-life Women’s Conference and is still posted at this time (as of 1/30/2019). Let’s see if it disappears there also.

Abby even commented on this thread with her personal account (Abby Kristen):

Note that Abby seems to have insider information on how the bill would be handled. This is important to remember as you will see later that Abby is trying to deny her opposition as she has been exposed. But her opposition was no secret. Here she says she will write to those who authored the bill.

Even some Catholics recognized she opposed the bill:

Abby appears to have ties with Texas Alliance for Life (TAL) who has ties to Rep. Jeff Leach who killed HB896. Jeff’s reasoning was the same as TAL and Abby’s (opposing equal justice). Abby believes women should not be held accountable for murdering their own babies in our laws. Here’s Abby at an event with pro-life lobbyist Joe Pojman of Texas Alliance for Life.

Here is Abby expressing her relief that HB896 was killed by Jeff Leach. 110,000 more babies will be murdered in Texas until this bill can be introduced again.

Abby has even stated she is not interested in making abortion illegal. In a 2019 interview with America Magazine she said:
“I mean, laws are important, but our goal should not be to make abortion illegal. Our goal should be to make abortion unthinkable.”

About 9 months after HB896 was killed in Texas, Abby tried to hide her influence but luckily we kept evidence. Even if she had no direct influence on the TX capitol, she has many followers and pro-life friends. I don’t believe it was a coincidence that her objections to the bill were the same as the Representative who killed it.

UPDATE: As of January 2020, Abby continues to lie as people are catching on. These are from the last week in January.

I think Abby is playing word games here. She may not have testified at the Capitol against the bill, but as shown above, her ministries shared a graphic against the bill. We don’t know the reach of the graphic on ATTWN since it has been removed, but we can see there were 223 likes and 164 shares on the Pro-life Women’s Conference page. Let’s look at some of the comments and shares to see how people were influenced.

Abby did also post about HB896 on her main Facebook page without referring directly to the bill. But the responses from her followers make it clear that most people understood what she was referring to. The news and social media were talking about this bill.

Abby is a popular pro-lifer who has worked with Texas legislators in the past. She continues to deny her open opposition to HB896 but the facts show otherwise. To deny that she “actively opposed” HB896 is a lie and the fact that she is trying to hide it doesn’t bode well for her either.

Remember, when push came to shove, Abby chose to protect murderous mothers from criminal responsibility rather than stop babies from being murdered. 110,000 babies will be murdered in Texas until another abolition bill can be brought forward.
Abby is an Enemy of the Gospel
Abby Johnson is a devout Roman Catholic with a Protestant background. This allows her to use a lot of evangelical-sounding language which likely fools many Christians. But as a professing Roman Catholic, she believes in a false gospel and should not be treated as a fellow Christian by Protestants. This is particularly problematic with her movie Unplanned which was written and produced by Catholics but is promoted as a Christian film.

Abby uses her platforms to promote Catholicism and often seems to purposely blur the lines between Catholicism and Christianity.

The pro-life movement has been a successful source of new converts for the RCC, including Abby.
“When I left Planned Parenthood, I left all my friends behind and developed new friends who were pro-life. They all happened to [be] Catholic and they kept inviting me and my husband to mass… The more we read, the more we realized the truth and fullness of Christ was within the Catholic Church, and that’s where we wanted to be. “
Abby Johnson, 2019 Interview with America Magazine
Her false gospel is quite apparent in her ministry, And Then There Were None, which works to free abortion workers from their murderous jobs. These workers are treated as victims of an evil industry, and repentance and forgiveness is granted upon their departure alone (not like the true gospel). Of course in Abby’s humanistic world (which is tied to her Catholicism), every woman is a victim.

“Forgive yourself” is not the gospel. Abby’s ministry financially supports people who were accessories to murder with no sign of true repentance and faith. That is not the gospel and goes against God’s command to not assist murderers in Proverbs 28:17.
Concerns with Unplanned
Abby’s movie Unplanned has been widely accepted by Christians and has a subtle anti-gospel message. But as I mentioned above, my biggest concern is that it is a Roman Catholic movie. It’s given Abby and the Roman Catholic Church a new platform to proselytize from.

“Incidentally, “Unplanned” movie writers and directors Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman are Catholic too. Konzelman is a revert who influenced his best friend Solomon, and Solomon converted because the Catholic Church taught him to love the heavenly persons, including the Holy Trinity, the Holy Family, the saints, and the holy angels.”

Abby Opposes Equal Justice for the Pre-born
Like most female pro-life leaders, Abby is about women first and foremost (as shown in her ProWoman tagline below). This is why, as we saw above, she opposes any criminal prosecution of mothers in abortion legislation. She believes that women are co-victims in abortion, duped by society and the evil abortion industry, and should never be punished for murdering their own children.

She would rather have babies continued to be poisoned and dismembered than have the mothers be held criminally responsible for doing these evil deeds to their children. In other words, she wants to deny the pre-born child equal justice under the law that born children have, instead allowing a special class of people (women) who are allowed to murder.
According to Abby, women who schedule and pay to have their babies torn limb from limb are secondary victims.

This was posted the day after the comments above where HB896 was discussed. Notice how Abby says “we don’t sentence women to death” which was a common mischaracterization that she and some of her friends posted often. While the death penalty is a possibility in TX murder cases, HB896 in no way enacted a death penalty. I believe Abby was intentionally deceptive on this point to make the bill look extreme.

Abby Johnson Profits Off the Backs of Dead Babies
Abby Johnson has a few books, a movie, and is a very popular speaker at pro-life fundraisers. According to her online profile she charges $10,000 – $20,000 to speak. No one is quite sure how much she is worth, but we are confident that becoming pro-life has been far more profitable than her career at Planned Parenthood.

Abby’s pro-life career is the sole source of her family’s income.

Abby is a Pro-life Feminist
As stated above, Abby’s focus seems to be more on women than the babies who are being murdered. This comports with her pro-life feminist label. Abortion is treated as something bad for women, not empowering, and not as the murder that it is.

Abby runs the Pro-life Women’s Conference each year which focuses heavily on this feminist theme. Feminism is unbiblical and gave us abortion in the first place, yet these pro-life feminists have really doubled-down on this label lately. The disagreement between a pro-choice feminist and a pro-life feminist is not whether abortion is murder of an innocent baby, but whether abortion is good or bad for a woman.

Another website of Abby’s is CheckMyClinic.org. The purpose of the site: “We believe an informed woman is an empowered woman. We also know that this information is NOT available to the public but we believe it should be, so we have created this site for that purpose. Once informed, a woman can make a decision about whether or not she wants to receive care in a facility that has violated health and safety codes.”

Abby Portrays Abolitionists and Gospel Preachers as Extremists
Abby likes to portray abolitionists and preachers who present the gospel outside of abortion clinics as angry white men, calling aborting mothers murderers and screaming about Hell. In Unplanned, there is a scene which looks just that way.

“The Preacher – He’s the guy who preaches a fire and brimstone sermon, usually on a bullhorn, from the sidewalk. Because all women want to run into the arms of a guy who is yelling at them to “repent or go to hell.”
