It is a fact that the biggest enemy to ending the abortion holocaust in our country is the pro-life movement (PLM). While I have MANY issues with the PLM, I want to document how the PLM has opposed and even blocked bills of abolition from passing in various states.
Keep in mind that these abolition bills, if passed, would have ended abortion in that particular state, no exceptions. Ending abortion does not appear to be the goal of the PLM.
Abolition Bills Blocked by Pro-Life Republicans
OKLAHOMA SB13 was blocked by “pro-life” GOP State Senators Jason Smalley and Greg Treat in 2019. Tony Lauinger, VP of National Right to Life and President of Oklahomans for Life also lobbied against the bill (twice – SB13 and SB1118)
In 2020, SB13 was re-introduced in Oklahoma. It was blocked from leaving committee by pro-life, professing Christian Republican Greg McCortney (who took over for Smalley). A motion was later filed to bring the bill to the floor for a vote and 30 Republicans (most pro-life church-goers) voted against the bill.
TEXAS HB896 was blocked by “pro-life” professing Christian State Representative Jeff Leach with the support of multiple pro-life organizations and his pastor Jack Graham.
INDIANA HB1134 was blocked by “pro-life” GOP State Representative Ben Smaltz and opposed by House Speaker Brian Bosma. This bill has been blocked four times so far!
IDAHO AHRA was blocked by GOP State Representative Steven Harris and opposed by “pro-life” State Senator Fred Martin.
Pro-life Organizations and Leaders Who Have Opposed Abolition Bills
Abby Johnson opposed 2 Texas abolition bills (HB896 & HB948). Note, that while she stated she would not actively oppose HB896, her ministry put out a graphic soon after that did oppose it.
Lila Rose opposed Texas HB896. Note that HB896 established equal justice for the pre-born and did not “evoke” the death penalty. This was a common misrepresentation of the bill by pro-life feminists.
Melissa Ohden is a pro-life speaker who also opposed HB896.
Texas Alliance for Life is a pro-life lobby group that opposed TX HB896 and likely lobbied against it.
Texans for Life also opposed HB896 in Texas. https://theresurgent.com/2019/04/11/pro-life-texas-state-rep-jeff-leach-delivers-death-sentence-to-110000-preborn-human-beings/
Brian Fisher, President of Human Coalition opposed HB896.
Indiana Right to Life and Allen County Right to Life both opposed the Indiana Protection at Conception Act.
Right to Life of Idaho and Idaho Chooses Life both opposed the Idaho Abortion Humans Right Act.
The Baptist General Convention of OK opposed SB13. Their reasoning was inconsistent with the actual bill.
The Catholic Conference of Oklahoma also opposed SB13, which would have ended abortion in Oklahoma.
Be sure to watch Babies Are Still Murdered Here, which also documents the failures and inconsistencies in the pro-life movement.
